Dubai carrier Emirates has announced it will be operating a special one-off A380 flight to Kuwait to allow UAE supporters to attend the finals of the Arabian Gulf Cup.

The UAE national football team will face Oman in the final on Friday, December 5 after beating Iraq on penalties on Tuesday night after a goalless 120 minutes.

The national team eventually won the semi-final shootout at Kuwait City’s Jaber Al Ahmad International Stadium 4-2 after fullback Mohammed Barghash converted the decisive penalty.

Emirates said the exact details of the flight, which is being operated under the instructions of UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, will be made available as soon as possible.

The carrier first introduced A380s to the route in July 2014 on its EK857 and EK858 flights. It serves Kuwait with five flights a day.
