But Intu Derby has slipped down three places from its previous ranking in 2013, when it was placed 12th, partly because of the opening of new centres elsewhere in the UK.
The report ranks Britain’s top 500 shopping centres on their overall attractiveness to customers, based on factors including their size, tenants and weekly footfall.
The top of the table is dominated by South East shopping centres including Westfield Stratford City, Bluewater and Westfield London.
Earlier this year, Intu Properties bought the Derby shopping centre from Westfield.
Trevor Wood, of Trevor Wood Associates, said: “There is still very much a premier division of 27 shopping centres particularly leading the way.
“Many of these have plans to develop or expand their tenant mix, which will widen the gap between them and the other leading centres still further.”
