Some of Italy’s most talented chefs have toiled four hours to create the world’s longest pizza – measuring nearly a mile long.
It took over 60 chefs over 18 hours to create the pizza which was unveiled at Milan’s Expo 2015 world fair.
The festival, which runs from 1 May to 31 October, involves exhibits from over 140 countries which are focused on feeding the planet in a sustainable way.
Guinness World Records adjudicators who assessed the pizza confirmed its status as the world’s longest.
Made using 1.5 tonnes of mozzarella cheese and two tonnes of tomato sauce, the pie weighed in at 5 tons and measured 1.59545 km, according to Expo organisers.
And the enormous pie didn’t go to waste, as visitors to the Expo were invited to eat slices of the pizza for free.
The lengthy pizza beat the previous record set at Tomelloso, Spain in 2011, which measured 1.141km.
Two years later, a separate team in Milan created the largest ever .desert pizza. Topped with pistachio cream, grated hazelnuts, icing sugar and cocoa it measured 23m.
