December rounds off an exceptionally busy year of demand for retail space at Westfield which brought the combined total of new openings, expansions and upgrades to almost 100 units across 440,127sq ft including major developments to the Village at Westfield London and new and exciting retailers to Westfield Stratford City.
Over 40 brand new stores have opened at Westfield London and Westfield Stratford City this year closing on a high with the arrival of 15new stores in December alone, boding well for a busy Christmas season. Big names such as Belstaff, Lululemon, Levi Roots Caribbean Smokehouse and Hyundai Rockar have added to the exciting retail mix at both centres.

The opening of so many new stores at Westfield London and Westfield Stratford City highlights Westfield’s ongoing appeal to retailers and ensures the retail mix remains fresh and dynamic for our customers.
“Westfield has also recently carried out a multimillion pound investment to The Village, Westfield London and the South West Corner with a major upgrade to Debenhams and the arrival of a number of new stores and dining offers. New stores at Westfield London
Further investment to the centre’s luxury offering includes the expansion of British fashion retailer Aquascutum to a 4,244sq ft store, set to open in December. In addition, Mulberry has relocated and expanded to a new 3,16sq ft store, opening in time for the lead up to Christmas. Italian luxury pen specialist Montegrappa, has also just opened a 1,101sq ft pop-up store, in The Village.
British Heritage brand with Italian style, Belstaff has just launched a 1,282sq ft store located close to the entrance to The ViIlage, whilst design meets entertainment with the launch of French sound system designers Devialet. Cult athletics and yoga fashion brand Lululemon will open a 4,549sq ft space in December and Dutch fashion brand Scotch & Soda also opens a 1,505sq ft this month.
Nespresso has just opened a 2,082sq ft new coffee experience concept store and following their success at Westfield Stratford City, beauty treatment specialist Centros Unico will also open a new 420sq ft store at the Shepherd’s Bush centre. Jigsaw has also opened its first store at 1,400sq ft inside a mall at Westfield London with a brand new global concept.
New stores at Westfield Stratford City
Illustrating Westfield Stratford City’s strong food and leisure offer, the new Bat & Ball bar will open a 11,993 sq ft restaurant and bar in December on The Street. The biggest bar in Westfield, and designed for fans of craft beer, wine and cocktails, Bat & Ball hosts a private Ping Pong Parlour on the ground floor and Eat Well Street Pizza is served at the Deli.
Also on The Street, Dragon’s Den winner, Levi Roots launches his brand new Caribbean Smokehouse and first ever Caribbean themed restaurant at Westfield Stratford City with authentic recipes and Levi’s favourite ingredients.
In December, the centre has also welcomed a new 2,182 sq ft Hyundai Rockar car dealership, offering shoppers an alternative way to purchase their new vehicle. Through the user-friendly in-store touchscreen system, customers can research Hyundai cars and make their purchase, with the new model then delivered to a place of their choosing.
In addition, the home fragrance and gift retailer Love Aroma have just opened an 827 sq ft store. A new 849 sq ft Thornton’s store, an 800 sq ft Virgin Media unit plus a 3,546 sq ft Nationwide will also open at Westfield Stratford City in the New Year.
Westfield London round up
In 2015, Westfield London completed a multimillion-pound investment in enhancing its luxury shopping area, The Village. This saw a number of stores expand including Burberry’s two level store and Whistles which introduced a menswear range as well as a host of new luxury brands such as Anya Hindmarch, Sandro, Claudie Pierlot and Georg Jensen.
Other significant developments in 2015 included a multi-million pound upgrade to Debenhams in the south-west corner of the centre; a remodeling of the Southern Terrace entrance, and the introduction of Swedish brand Lindex and new food outlets such as Itsu and Zizzi. Within Debenhams new store, a second Costa Coffee to the centre has opened along with Ed’s Diner, combined with the ever popular Five Guys located just outside Debenhams, this is fast becoming another major foodie destination within the centre.
A major expansion and refurbishment saw Inditex brand Zara taking on a beautifully designed concept store with an additional 9,300sq ft taking it a total 31,052sq ft – one of the largest in the portfolio.
In addition to the new retail brands, Westfield London expanded its entertainment and leisure offer with the opening of KidZania, the UK’s first educational entertainment experience opened a 75,000sq ft life-like city where kids can learn over 60 unique and exciting professions.
Westfield Stratford City round up
Westfield Stratford City also opened a number of new exciting retailers including a concept Holiday Design Store – Tui (Thomson) and Rush Hair & Beauty opened its newest flagship. Other great additions to the mix at Stratford include first to the UK Lindex at 11,467sq ft., the hugely popular Pot Belly, as well as Cath Kidston, Shake Shack, Bolongsaro Trevor and London’s newest Gymbox at 19,799sq ft.
