Over $11,000 Raised Through Panera’s 2015 Go Pink Campaign and Operation Dough-Nation Program
Cleveland, OH (RestaurantNews.com) Panera Bread was honored to present a check for $11,128.90 to Cleveland Clinic for breast cancer research on December 14th 2015 at 11:30 AM at the University Circle, Ohio Panera Bread. The funds were raised through Panera Bread’s Pink Ribbon Bagel sales and Panera Bread’s Operation Doughnation program in support of Breast Cancer Awareness during the month of October.
Dr. Jame Abraham MD, Director of the Breast Oncology Program at Taussig Cancer Institute and co-director of the Comprehensive Breast Cancer Program of Cleveland Clinic, accepted the check on behalf of Cleveland Clinic.
“Panera Bread is thrilled to be able to support breast cancer research at Cleveland Clinic and the Northeast Ohio Community,” said Sam Covelli, Owner/Operator of Covelli Enterprises, the largest franchisee of Panera Bread. “At Panera Bread we strive to make a positive difference in the community. The partnership with Cleveland Clinic enables us to do that.”
Panera Bread’s program, known as Operation Dough-Nation, utilizes Community Boxes located near the cafe registers to collect cash donations for local causes. All cash and spare change donations collected in the boxes at the Cleveland Panera bakery — cafes during the month of October 2015 were donated to Cleveland Clinic for Breast Cancer Research.
In 2014, Panera Bread and Covelli Enterprises donated $23 million dollars to charities and local organizations through both product and monetary donations.
