“Campaign of bullying” cited as workers are balloted
Londoners could be on course to endure another Tube strike. Piccadilly Line Tube drivers are to be balloted over whether to take industrial action over problems with the management of the line.
The Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT), is due to consult with hundreds of drivers after claims of harassment and “a campaign of bullying”, by managers at the Piccadilly Line.
RMT general secretary Mick Cash said there had been a “comprehensive breakdown” in relations between workers and management.
He said: “The wholesale abuse of procedures and agreements by management on the Piccadilly line is rife and amounts to the development of a campaign of bullying, harassment and intimidation that the union will not allow to continue.
“RMT will not sit back and allow individual members to be picked off by a vindictive and aggressive management who are continuing to drag their heels over addressing fundamental safety issues which leave staff in a vulnerable and exposed position.”
