Leagas Delaney has beaten a number of other agencies to Value Retail’s luxury shopping business through its Chic Outlet Shopping Villages.
Value Retail has villages in the UK (Bicester outside London on the M40), Dublin, Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Bologna, Brussels, Antwerp, Cologne, Frankfurt and Munich. Suzhou Village in China opened in 2015, Shanghai Village will open later this spring.
Value Retail hosted more than 33.3m visits in 2015 in Europe. The company has experienced 40 consecutive quarters of double-digit growth in tax refunded sales generated by non-EU visitors since 2006. In 2012 Value Retail was accepted as an Affiliate Member of the United Nations World Tourism Organization in recognition of its tourist efforts, a first for the retail sector. Bicester Village (below) in the UK features on many tourist intineraries from China and the like, alongside more traditional attractions like Buckingham Palace and the Tower of London.
Leagas Delaney was awarded the business after a competitive pitch managed by Creative Brief. Agency founder Tim Delaney says: “It’s a really successful business and our job is to make it more so. Exactly the kind of brief we love.”
Over the years Leagas Delaney has built a formidable reputation handling global luxury accounts including Patek Philippe (‘You never actually own a Patek Philippe. You merely look after it for the next generation’) and Penfolds wine.
