Sleeping in is for suckers at Italy’s Starlight Room
It’s the holy trinity of vacation cabins: Tiny? Check. Remote? Check. In Italy? Va bene.
The Starlight Room is a (very) small glass-walled and roofed cabin on skis in the Dolomites near Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. It’s ideal for skiing, snowboarding or doing absolutely nothing save look at the stars.
The mountains are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and provide a stunning backdrop for the cabin, which was built by local artisans out of regional materials to highlight the natural beauty of the area. Dinner and breakfast are included, as well as an adjustable bed and a flatscreen TV showing a timelapse of the surrounding mountains.
You won’t find luxury amenities in the traditional sense, but if what you seek is quiet, solitude and a tall glass of nature (which, let’s be real, are luxuries in this day and age), you can’t do much better than this.
Nota bene: For reservations, call Rifugio Col Gallina. Bring your translator
