GELATO FESTIVAL: Sample the Italian goodness of gelato at this Gelato Festival, taking over Old Spitalfields Market. It's the London leg of a European tour, with all sorts of interesting and unusual flavours to try. 24 June-3 July

BROWN'S LONDON ART WEEKEND: Some of Mayfair's most exclusive art galleries, normally closed, open their doors to the public this weekend. There's also an arty programme of walks and talks. See individual events for price and booking information, 1-3 July
AFRICA WRITES: Royal African Society’s annual literature and book festival takes place at the British Library. Book launches, panel discussions, performances, workshops, and an international book fair all take place. Most events free, some charge, book in advance, 1-3 July
AWAY WITH THE FAERIES: Enter the secret world of faerie folk at Forty Hall in Enfield. This family friendly festival has activities including art and circus skills workshops, and live music. £8/£6, book in advance, 2-3 July
WIMBLEDON: Weren't lucky enough to get tickets in this year's ballot? No problem, here's a guide to how to queue for tickets, or if you can't be bothered with all that, park yourself at one of these Wimbledon screens across London.

FREE FESTIVAL: It's the final day of Greenwich + Docklands International Festival, with dance, music, theatre and more across east London. See website for programme and booking details, until 2 July
ART NIGHT: The first London Art Night takes place tonight, with events organised by the ICA happening at 10 locations across London. Dance artist Cecilia Bengolea presents a new video installation in Covent Garden Piazza, while Laure Prouvost takes over several rooms of Admiralty Arch. Free, book in advance, 2-3 July
BURLINGTON GARDENS FESTIVAL: The Royal Academy spills out onto the streets today for a festival of art installatons, performances, workshops and entertainment. Join in with a screen printing workshop, watch a film, or make your mark on the silver ink wall. Free, just turn up, noon-6pm
PSYCHEDELIC TIE DYE: Get into the psychedelic spirit at Queen of Hoxton's summer rooftop by learning the art of tie-dye at a colour workshop. £16, book in advance, 2pm-3.30pm
QUEEN'S BIRTHDAY WALK: Celebrate the Queen's 90th/lengthy reign with a guided walk from the Palace of Westminster to Buckingham Palace visiting sights linked to Queen Elizabeth II and past monarchs. £10, book in advance, 2pm-4pm (repeated every Saturday and Sunday until August)
ART MACABRE: Art Macabre gets into the USA Independence Day theme at The Book Club in Shoreditch, with an American themed life drawing session. Sketch a model dressed as the Statue of Liberty while listening to an all-American playlist. £12/£15, book in advance, 2pm-4pm
FEMINIST LIBRARY FUNDRAISER: The Feminist Library on Westminster Bridge Road throws a summer benefit to raise money to fight the threat of eviction. Hear from novelist Ali Smith, experience one-to-one performances in a lift, and be there for the launch of the Feminist Library Survival Song. £5-£20, book in advance, 2pm-10pm
FILM PREMIERE: Head to Rio Dalston for the premiere of film London Underground. Based on Iain Sinclair's book of the same name, the film retraces Sinclair's journey around the Overground — but takes place over the course of a year rather than a day. Following the screening there's a Q&A with Sinclair and filmmaker Andrew Kötting. £11, book in advance, 3.45pm
LUCHA LIBRE: Mexico's masked superhero wrestlers return to York Hall in Bethnal Green for a weekend of Lucha Libre, a Mexican style of wrestling where fighters enter the ring dressed in flamboyant capes and suits, and colourful masks, and perform acrobatic moves and fly from spectacular heights. Various prices, book in advance, 6.45pm

Regent Street closes to traffic for a huge transport festival

FURNITURE FLEA: Looking to pimp up your pad? Get yourself to York Hall in Bethnal Green where a vintage furniture flea market takes place, selling items from the kitsch to the collectible. £3/£2, just turn up, 10.30am-4pm
CROYDON AIRPORT: Croydon Airport's monthly open day is today — go along and have a look around the world's oldest air traffic control tower, and the rest of the former airport. Free, just turn up, 11am-4pm
TRANSPORT FESTIVAL: Regent Street closes to traffic for a transport festival today. Black cabs, tube carriages and buses will be rolled out on the street, including historic vehicles, letting the public get a closer look. Family activities and games, food and drink stalls and more will also be there. Free, just turn up, noon-6pm
CHOREOGRAPHY FESTIVAL: The Next Choreography Festival is the culmination of Siobhan Davies' Dance Next Choreography course, featuring live performances, film, talks and participatory events and more. Takes place at the studios in Lambeth. Most events free, noon-8pm
GARDEN TOUR: Join the garden guides at Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham for a free 45-minute walking tour of the garden, learning about its key features and the restoration that has taken place. Included in admission, just turn up, 2pm
SUMMERTIME CONCERT: Southgate Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Adrian Brown, is joined by cellist Daniel Benn for a performance of Butterworth's Rhapsody, Delius's Cello Concerto and Elgar/Payne's Symphony No 3. The concert is preceded by a short question and answer session with composer Anthony Payne. Takes place at Saint Mary Mary Magdalene Church in Enfield. £10-£14, book in advance, 7.30pm
