One of the most appealing aspects of first class travel is the exclusive airport lounge that usually precedes a flight.

But not all lounges are created equal. The GVK Lounge by TFS Performa was voted World's Leading First Class Airport Lounge in the World Travel Awards 2016.

Located at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai, India, the GVK Lounge also took the title in 2015 — and it's easy to see why.

While the first class area is the one that took the accolade thanks to its fantastic à la carte dining, spa treatments, and relaxation rooms, the Business Premium Lounge is just as luxurious for those willing to spend on a Business Class flight.

The GVK Lounge by TFS Performa, located at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai, India, was just named the World's Leading First Class Airport Lounge. Even the entrance is grand.

There are separate lounges for business class, business premium, and first class, all of which are equally luxurious.

There is a bar specifically for first class and business premium travellers, and two bars in the business class lounge. They offer everything from fine wines and Champagnes to rum punch. They also give travellers the option to order from the à la carte dining menu to enjoy some food with their drink.

There is a dining area with the vibe of a gourmet restaurant in the first class lounge, serving up Indian, Asian, Arabic and continental cuisines. Think Steamed Egg Bao for breakfast, Lobster Bisque or Maple Salmon as a starter for lunch or dinner, followed by Ravioli Porcini or Lamb Biryani, finished with a selection of desserts. tandoori and dim sum platters

The business premium and business class lounges also have a mouthwatering buffet, and the business premium lounge even has a live cooking counter with a tandoor. It also boasts a whiskey lounge.

There are quiet areas and private meeting rooms throughout the GVK Lounge for those who need to switch off – or just sit and watch the planes take off and land.

The business centre offers working travellers WiFi connected printers, stationery, newspapers, and magazines.

Travellers can enjoy personalised services such as a concierge from Les Clefs d’Or, who wear golden keys to show their excellence in the field. The concierge can reserve and book hotels and events and assist with anything to make the journey smoother.

Last but not least, for weary travellers there is a resting area as well as shower rooms and a spa offering a range of treatments. A complimentary 30-minute massage is offered to first class passengers, while business class travellers receive a 15-minute massage.
