One of the best parts about sharing a community with our fellow citizens is when we have the chance to truly look out for one another in moments of need.
Homelessness is a major problem in modern society and while some people are willing to stand idly by, this Missouri group elected to do something about it.
There is no reason why a person should ever be forced to live on the streets, but there are often instances where they are left with no choice. Programs, charities and shelters are already in existence, but there is always room for improvement.
In many situations, there is also a natural assumption that the person who is homeless either wants to be homeless or has a drug problem that precludes them from obtaining a traditional form of employment.
A significant portion of the people who are currently living on the streets are war veterans that have struggled to readjust to life in regular society. Thanks to the Missouri organization Veterans Community Project, there is now a whole village of miniature houses for homeless veterans to reside in.
The village was constructed on four acres and contains several small houses for the veterans to live in. Construction on this amazing village began back in 2015 and is expected to be completed some time this year, as the primary objective of the Veterans Community Project is to remove these heroes from the streets and provide them with a proper place to live.
Not only will these houses give veterans refuge from life on the streets, but they will also come fully equipped with food and electricity. The Veterans Community Project is responsible for connecting veterans with the goods and services that they need to re-assimilate into society and thanks to the efforts of their volunteers, our nation’s heroes receive the help they need.
