21/09/2017 - The market and restaurant chain is opening a food-centric theme park in Bologna, Italy
Italian chain Eataly is honoring its home by launching a $118 million dollar experimental park called FICO Eataly World. Eataly World will be opening in two months in Bologna, Italy with more than 40 restaurants and food stalls on 25 acres of land. There will also be learning centers that give visitors a chance to learn more about any processes related to Italian food. Of course, the iconic Italian countryside experience will not be complete without adult tricycles available for touring the grounds.
Instead of focusing on restaurants and shopping like Eataly stores, this park gives visitors an opportunity to delve deep into Italy’s culture around food and the agricultural process that spans decades. There will also be interactive workshops available, all taught by experienced farmers and chefs.
The park is also a large proponent of sustainability, having an area focusing on the future of agriculture. Carlo Ratti of the MIT Senseable City Lab designed it so visitors can plant seeds in a hydroponic vegetable garden to learn more about sustainable agriculture.
Admission to Eataly World will be free—the company is banking on people to fall in love with the experience and its Italian food, per usual.
