Today, one of London’s biggest hotel chain’s Travelodge has announced it’s looking to grow its portfolio of hotels in North London with a further 11.

The sites it is looking to invest in include:Angel Islington, Barnet, Edgware/Mill Hill, Golders Green, Hillingdon, Ladbroke Grove, Northolt/Greenford, Pinner, Rickmansworth, Wembley Park and West Hendon.

This expansion of 11 new hotels could create around 220 new jobs across North London and would represent an approximate investment of £55m for third party suppliers. It will also boost Travelodge’s hotels to 80 across North London.

This expansion announcement was made today at the official opening ceremony of Travelodge’s 522nd hotel opening in Wood Green, in the borough of Haringey.

The Mayor of Haringey, Councillor Stephen Mann joined Bryn Taylor, Travelodge Regional Director for South East to officially open Wood Green’s first branded hotel, London Wood Green Travelodge.

Part office conversion and new build the new 78-room London Wood Green Travelodge, represents an investment of £11m for the landlord and has created 22 new jobs. It is situated above The Mall shopping centre and is just a few minute walk from Wood Green tube station and is close to Alexandra Palace and the new Tottenham Spurs stadium.

Wood Green Travelodge is the company’s 69th hotel in London and its first in the borough of Hangley and Wood Green. It is also the first of a hat trick of openings for the company in North London this year.

The other Travelodge hotels scheduled to open this year include a 128 room hotel in Brent Cross, close to the shopping centre and a 102 room hotel in Harrow. Combined these three hotels have created 85 new jobs within the community.

The trio of hotels all feature the next generation of the company’s ‘Travelodgical’ contemporary room design. The upgraded rooms feature the luxurious king size Travelodge Dreamer bed, with bedside USB charging points, new softer LED ceiling lighting - giving the room a warmer feel and a Samsung 32-inch digital television .

All hotels offer family, double and accessible rooms and the new family rooms offer individual beds for children. Rooms are priced from £49 and can be booked at www.travelodge.co.uk

Bryn Taylor, Travelodge Regional Director for South East: “North London is a key growth area for Travelodge, as there is a big shortage of branded hotels and customers are crying out for more good quality and low-cost places to stay at across the region.

“Therefore to meet this growing demand we are actively looking for 11 new hotel sites across North London. This investment will also create great career opportunities within the community and boost the local economy, as our research shows Travelodge customers will annually spend around £2m with local businesses during their stay.”
