The Marina Group's Samer Marina has opened Cinnabon's first location in Morocco at the Anfa Place Shopping Center in Casablanca. The group intends to open a second location of the cinnamon-roll bakery in the next six to seven months, according to the company. Cinnabon already has a presence in the region with 24 locations in Egypt, two in Libya and plans for more in Morocco. Tunisia is also on Cinnabon's radar.
Boulder, Colorado-based Doc Popcorn has signed a master franchise agreement to develop 10 PopShop locations in Japan. FS Planning, led by Takeshi Furuhara, Masahiro Saito and Yu Abe, plans to open its first location in the Omotesando area of Tokyo this year, and then at least one location every year over the next 10 years, according to a release. FS Planning has roots in the restaurant arena with such concepts as Radish Boy, Cote de Rouge and Maxim de Paris.
The first of 10 Super 8s in Germany has broken ground, with an expected opening date of autumn 2015. The economy brand will be developed by GS Star GmbH, as part of a previously signed multi-year agreement between Tristar Hotel GMbH and Wyndham Hotel Group. Super 8 will be the fifth of 15 Wyndham Hotel Group brands in Germany.
