French department store, Galeries Lafayette, will open a 18,000sqm flagship store at Westfield Milan, which is slated to become Italy’s largest shopping centre.
The 175,000sqm shopping centre, located just outside central Milan in Segrate, is expected to become Italy’s largest shopping mall, housing more than 300 stores, 50 restaurants, a cinema complex, luxury village, and car park. The first phase of the development is expected to open at the end of 2017.
Galeries Lafayette was founded in 1894 and operates 63 department stores worldwide. Outside of its home market it has international stores in Berlin, Casablanca, Jakarta, Dubai, and Beijing. The chain plans open in Doha and Istanbul in early 2016.
