Franchising, retail, business

I’ll be back next week with more commentary but be sure to check out the top five articles this week. Huge news regarding RadioShack is looming and there may be a wrinkle that a lot of us have expecting for some time; Amazon is reportedly exploring taking some of the RadioShack locations within better shopping centers for actual store space for providing customer service and selling services and select goods like the Amazon Kindle.
It would not be an incredibly surprising move; the rumor that Google will go this route continues to resurface every few months and there is more talk as of late that Alibaba will do this as they prep for a rapid brand launch in the United States. Four years ago, most retailers didn’t want to address the rising tide of e-commerce. Over the last few years, most have embraced omni-channel platforms… it’s not about an “if you can’t beat them, join them,” mentality so much as it is in realizing that it doesn’t matter anymore where you make the sale, so long as you make it. 2015 may very well be the year that we see the e-commerce players themselves finally adopting that approach as well.
Regardless, I am tracking this as closely as I can and will be back to talk about it in detail next week.
