Franchising, retail, business
06/03/2018 - Starboard Hotels has acquired four Ibis Styles hotels from beleaguered construction giant Carillion for an undisclosed sum off a guide price of £30m.
Located in Barnsley (117 bedrooms), Birmingham NEC (166 rooms), Crewe (112 rooms) and Haydock (102 rooms), the properties will remain under the Ibis Styles brand and will be managed under franchise agreements with AccorHotels.
The acquisitions are the first this year for the independent hotel owner-operator, which now owns a portfolio of 19 hotels with nearly 2,000 bedrooms, operating under a myriad of brands from AccorHotel, InterContinental Hotels Group and Wyndham. The group also owns the independent Windermere Manor hotel in Cumbria.
The four Ibis Styles hotels were originally put on the market more than a year ago. Senior debt for the acquisition was provided by Bank Leumi.
Paul Callingham, managing director of Starboard Hotels said that this was “a substantial acquisition” for the company which would protect the future of the hotels and their staff.
“The four hotels fit perfectly within our portfolio and represent a significant investment for our business. Individually, the hotels are in excellent geographic locations and further increase our presence in the UK hotel sector across the country.”
